Clearing & Cleansing
Are you feeling stuck?
As creatives our environment is a huge contributory factor to our creative flow.
Our physical geography impacts not just our creative flow, it can also affect our mindset. Our environment holds the energetic space from which we operate.
Surrounding ourselves with external clutter, stagnated energy, and an uninspired landscape can often contribute to a messy mind, frantic practice, feelings of overwhelm, shutting down, lethargy, becoming uninspired and knock us out of creative flow and we can often find ourselves unable to ‘work’
As we create movement in a space we can also clear and cleanse our mind space; and as we begin to clear and cleanse the stored held or stuck energy in our work space, we open up our channels to creative flow, reconnecting to our creative source.
Environment plays a really important part in how we ‘are’
I’m extremely sensitive to space, my whole life I’ve been impacted by how a room feels, and throughout my creative journey space has become more and more important to me. (Yes I’ve been that frantic, ultra messy, I know where everything is creative)
The first thing I do when moving into a new space (work or living) is get to get it looking and feeling ‘right’ - no matter what the urgency, nothing can begin until I can begin.
At least twice a year I blitz my environment, (again home and work) every nook and cranny cleaned, tidied, sorted through, repaired, updated, emptied.
When I’m stressed, overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, I stop, and put my outer world in order, change a room round, clear space, cleanse the energy, focussing all my attention only on the job at hand. I guarantee that when I’m done I’m able to reset my mental focus and take big leaps forward.
Before I start a new project, I create the right space.
The same applies for personal challenges, a big part of my healing process and usually my last step is clearing the energy in my environment by having a purge so I can move forwards from a new perspective, stepping out in fresh energy.
It can feel counter intuitive, to prioritise a cleanse, especially when we are up against the clock to put everything on hold and clear out our space, but once done we can often feel a big shift in our energy which in turn increases our flow, inspired thought, motivation and productivity.
Look around you at your environment, our outer world is a mirror of our inner world ... where are you feeling stagnated in your work/ life how is this being reflected back at you in your environment? What looks tired and messy? What are you putting off doing? How would it feel to have everything cleared and in order? What can flow into your life once your created the space that you need.
Sometimes it can be as simple as clearing the cobwebs, burning incense and playing music to shift that stuck energy... other times movement of furniture is needed, removing what no longer serves us. Sometimes our space can need a complete overhaul.
Where do you need to, or how can you, create a more energetically and visually inspired environment for your optimum creative flow?
