Remember My Baby

Remember My Baby

A charity providing free remembrance photography to parents.

On 18th August 2014, eight passionate women; Cheryl Johnson, Nicky Heppenstall, Michele Selvey, Ruth Trotter, Alison Bryan, Anna Marina, Heidi Fuentes and Jocelyn Conway came together and co-founded Remember My Baby. They have all been touched by loss, either their own, or that of someone close to them and their common goal was to promote baby remembrance photography across the UK.

Cheryl Johnson, Photographer and Chair of Remember My Baby was awarded a British Empire Medal in the New Years Honours List 2019. To date the charity and team of 200 volunteers has provided meaningful photography for over 3,000 families in the UK.

The UK has one of the highest rates of still birth in developed countries with around 3,500 still births a year. Today Remember My Baby are looking to extend their volunteer team of photographer’s and digital retoucher’s so they can gift more families across the UK access to a photograph that will not only provide memories that make a lasting difference but also the only images a parent will ever have of their child.

If you’re a photographer or a digital retoucher who is looking to give back in an important, sensitive and meaningful way that is valued, needed and cherished, please reach out to Remember My Baby to find out more about how you can be involved in their mission.

When capturing a lifetime’s worth of memories in less than one day is all you can do…

When the milestone of being born is the only milestone…

When time stops for a family, you can help. Remember My Baby volunteer photographers meet parents losing their baby before, during or shortly after birth. Images are sent to the parents 4-6 weeks later having been converted to black and white and edited with a gentle touch. Remember My Baby’s volunteer digital retouchers are available to assist with complex editing such as tube removal at parents’ request, or for a session edit when a photographer’s workload requires it.

It is challenging but incredibly rewarding. You enter the room with trepidation but you’re a professional with a job to do. Your camera becomes your shield, and you capture beautiful timeless images of a precious baby, whose parents will cherish them for years.

Remember My Baby’s images make a significant difference to a family’s grief. We provide resources, training, and support; you provide something for someone who can probably never repay you.
